High-quality shower mixers for your bathroom
Shower mixers and shower thermostats at SCHÜTTE
Looking for the right shower mixer for your bathroom? At SCHÜTTE, we offer you high-quality taps and thermostats at affordable prices. With us, you will find taps with an innovative design and versatile functionality. Our range includes single-lever mixers, various first-class shower thermostats and concealed and exposed mixers. Choose between models with a shelf, shower mixers and thermostats in black or chrome. Read on to find out everything you need to know about shower mixers and a brief introduction to our product portfolio.
What to look out for when buying a shower mixer
- The first step is to choose the basic mixer class. There is no right or wrong here. Whether price, shape or material: it is important to find the right tap for the specific purpose. This also includes the range of functions of your own tap: what functions should it have? For example, do I need a shower mixer with a shelf, or is a temperature lock as scald protection particularly important to me?
- In general, you should look for a durable surface, such as chrome. In terms of durability, both the general quality and the thickness of the chrome plating play a key role. Good to know: At SCHÜTTE, all taps sold are tested for durability in a salt spray chamber in the internal quality assurance laboratory.
- With single-lever mixers, the cartridge makes all the difference. Both smooth operation and durability are significantly influenced by the cartridge. Similarly, the quality of shower thermostats depends on the thermostat cartridge used. SCHÜTTE taps only use quality cartridges with high-quality ceramic sealing washers.
- Check the water pressure and water connection to ensure that the shower mixer you are considering is suitable for your bathroom.
Types of shower mixers
Our store offers a wide range of different types of shower mixers. These can differ in terms of appearance and functions. To give you a better overview, you will find a brief explanation of our product portfolio and the different types of taps below.
Concealed and surface-mounted fittings
In principle, all available types of shower mixers are available for use as both concealed and surface-mounted mixers. Concealed fittings promise an elegant and modern design, while saving space and requiring little maintenance. On the other hand, concealed mixer taps require a recess in the wall, which makes retrofitting very time-consuming. Concealed taps, on the other hand, can be replaced with little effort.
Single-lever mixers and two-hand mixers
For many years, it was impossible to imagine German bathrooms without two-hand mixers, but these days they are rarely installed. Two-hand taps are often chosen to achieve a certain look or to avoid breaking up the existing tap design. The hot and cold water is regulated separately in two-hand taps.
Single-lever mixers are currently the most commonly installed form of shower mixers. Single-lever mixers regulate the flow of hot and cold water via the cartridge. The same lever is used to open or close the water supply.
Shower thermostats
Shower thermostats are currently very popular thanks to their numerous benefits. Thanks to the built-in thermostat, the flow of hot and cold water is automatically readjusted in the event of pressure peaks so that the water temperature remains constant almost to the degree. This means there are generally no nasty surprises if the water flow suddenly changes. Most shower thermostats also have scald protection. To achieve a particularly hot water temperature, a fuse must first be released. Accidental scalding with hot water is now a thing of the past.
Shower mixers in black
The trend color black for the bathroom is also reflected in shower mixers. While almost all shower mixers used to be chrome, the demand for black shower mixers is steadily increasing. In technical terms, black shower mixers are usually powder-coated taps, in which a black powder coating is applied to the metal tap. This makes the tap less susceptible to fingerprints and at the same time very robust and durable. Black shower mixers are maintained in the same way as chrome taps. A soft cotton cloth and a gentle cleaning agent - based on citric acid, for example - are your preferred tools for cleaning black shower mixers.
Shower mixers for instantaneous water heaters
Instantaneous water heaters for shower systems are generally pressure-resistant and therefore work together with standard shower mixers in most cases. In particular, if you have been using a standard shower mixer in combination with your instantaneous water heater for a long time, you can assume that the instantaneous water heater is designed for this. However, some rarely installed instantaneous water heaters require special shower mixers. If in doubt, we recommend that you seek advice from a specialist.
Maintenance and care of shower mixers
If you want to use your shower mixer for as long as possible with an attractive appearance and optimum functionality, you should check and clean it regularly. Here are a few tips from us to ensure that your tap lasts as long as possible:
- Cleaning: Always use mild cleaning agents to clean your shower mixer so as not to damage the surface. For limescale deposits, it is recommended to apply a vinegar-water mixture to the tap and then rinse thoroughly.
- Checking the seal: Over time, seals and gaskets can become worn and leaky. Check the tap regularly for leaks and replace the seals if necessary.
- Limescale build-up inside the shower mixer: In this case, it may be necessary to disassemble parts of the tap and it is advisable to call in a specialist.
